The National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc. - Beta Chapter

Beta Chapter celebrated the 90th Charter Day Anniversary at the LaFontaine Bleu in Lanham, Maryland with a Luncheon Program. Attendees received a Pictorial Directory and autographed pens with the occasion and date.. Greetings were brought by our Supreme Basileus Charlotte Williams and our Regional Director Drusilla Kinzonzi. Sorors Sandra Webster, Basileus- Alpha Chapter and Gwendolyn Jackson, Parliamentarian- Alpha Chapter were also in attendance and brought greetings from Alpha Chapter,our mother chapter. We were honored to have two Past Supreme Basilei: Ardena Dixon and Margaret Nelson. The Honorable Vincent C. Gray, Mayor of the District of Columbia sent greetings. Former District of Columbia Public Schools Principal, Dr. Frances Plummer, rendered an inspirational and uplifting solo. The chapter recognized two Beta Sorors,Wanda Fox and Dianna Mayo Neal who retired and three sorors- Marcia Excum, Gwendolyn Robinson and Terry Wood who received special recognition for their outstanding work as members of Beta Chapter. Our Charter Day Hymns "Bless Our Dear Sorority" and "Phi Delta Kappa: Let's Shout Hooray" were written by our own Soror Elizabeth Roberts and our Charter Day Litany was written and led by Soror Dorothy Worthy. Past Supreme Basileus Margaret Nelson shared "Beta Chapter Through the Years". Custodian of Property Soror Beatrice Marshall, 2nd Anti Basileus Phyllis Brown , and Basileus Phyllis Valentine prepared a special video presentation:"Through the Eyes of Our Past: Building A Solid Future" which was "A Walk Down Memory Lane." A surprise presentation, a copy of Beta Chapter's Charter, was presented to the chapter by Supreme Basileus Charlotte M. Williams.
