The National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc. - Beta Chapter

The 91st Charter Day Celebration was held at the luxurious Greenbelt Marriott Hotel in Greenbelt, Maryland. Sorors and guests were greeted by committee members Natalie and Shellie. The musical interlude included music that spanned from the 1920's to the 1950's. The Immediate Past Chapter Basileus Soror Phyllis gave the Welcome and Soror Carol gave the Invocation. Past Supreme Basileus Soror Margaret brought Greetings.

The Occasion presentation ws nontraditional and was an incredibly creative way to succeed in sharing why we were celebrating. Soror Shellie was the narrator and with the help of ten sorors they participated in a short skit written by Soror Kathleen. The ten sorors wore hats and gloves and spoke in a conversational tone with added expression that put them in character of our ten Charter Members. This skit was a "meeting after the meeting" where the ten Charter members talked about chartering Beta Chapter after meeting with members of the Alpha Chapter. The skit clearly showed how a vision was formed.

Special recognition was given to our Retirees: Sorors Gwendolyn Robinson and Geneva Rivera; Sorors with Perfect Attendance for the sororal year 2014-2015; Beta's new Life Member Soror Carrie Moore; and Beta's Immediate Past Basileus Soror Phyllis. Basileus Wintress delivered a Charter Day Charge for Sorors and the Charter Day Litany (written by Soror Dorothy Worthy) and Charter Day hymns (written by Soror Elizabeth Roberts) were performed. Closing remarks were given by the Committee Chair, Second Anti Basileus Wanda Fox. Soror Beverly delivered the Benediction. All in attendance I'm sure would agree that this celebration keeps the vision of our Charter Members alive.
